Port Hudson – Pride Road (LA 964 – LA 19)

City of Baton Rouge, Department of Public Works

Baton Rouge, LA

ECM is providing engineering design services for this $20 million construction project for replacement of Port Hudson Pride Road extending from LA 964 to LA 19 (approximately 2.6 miles). The project involved multiple intersection roads and bridges. This project is part of the MOVEBR Program, designated as a New Capacity Improvement Project.

This project includes reconstruction of existing Port Hudson – Pride Road, adding paved shoulders on entire length of project and construction of sidewalks within the developed areas to Pin Oak Subdivision and reconstruction of existing bridges. The project also involves the improvement of the existing drainage system and planning and design activities to improve the traffic and connectivity of the existing Port Hudson pride road. The existing open ditches will be reconstructed to meet the current hydraulic requirement. A sidewalk will provide connectivity between LA 964 and Pin Oak Landing on both sides of Port Hudson – Pride Road. The scope also includes design for fill mitigation and detention of runoff.

This section of Port Hudson- Pride also includes 2 bridges. According to a recent inspection report the bridge has been determined to be structurally and functionally deficient. These bridges will be removed and replaced with new bridges. ECM is also working on the design of these two bridges. Services included preparation of a design study with road and bridge preliminary design, hydraulic, traffic, environmental, and geotechnical considerations; providing topographic survey; ROW survey, providing preliminary and final construction plans and cost estimates; and providing a bridge load rating in accordance with LADOTD standards and criteria.

All work is being performed in accordance with MoveBR Design Guidelines following City-Parish and LADOTD guidelines.

ECM prepared several alternatives for the alignment and typical section of the proposed road and bridges based on the H&H requirement and traffic study. Currently ECM is working in design phase and are preparing required plans, specifications and cost estimate for the project.
